Bluefront

What is BLUEFRONT?

BLUEFRONT is a transformative, youth-led project that places young people at the heart of action for sustainable water management and the blue economy. By connecting communities across Europe’s diverse aquatic landscapes, including islands, rivers, lakes, and lagoons, BLUEFRONT empowers youth to respond to real environmental challenges and create meaningful change.

Through hands-on workshops, innovative digital learning, and youth-driven community initiatives, young people gain the skills, confidence, and tools to turn ideas into action. From developing local roadmaps for water sustainability to launching awareness campaigns and collaborating across borders, BLUEFRONT supports youth in shaping solutions that matter.

At its core, BLUEFRONT is built on inclusion and equity. The project actively engages young people from rural, remote, and underserved areas, ensuring diverse voices are part of the conversation. More than a project, BLUEFRONT is a growing movement, strengthening communities, promoting water justice, and inspiring the next generation to lead the transition toward a sustainable and resilient blue future

Who are we?

We are a group of young people from Malta, working alongside our mentors, and we’re part of the BLUEFRONT project because we care about water, and we know we need to act. We want to understand what’s happening with water sustainability, both here at home and around the world. We want to question, learn, and share what we find with other young people, because this is a resource that affects every part of our lives, more than most of us even realise.

So far, we’ve spoken with experts, run focus groups, collected opinions from the public through online surveys, and trained alongside youth from other countries in BLUEFRONT. Now, we’re turning all that knowledge into action. We’re creating workshops to share what we’ve learned, spark conversations, and hear new voices. We want to know what young people think, what they feel, and how they want to make a difference.

This is about more than awareness; it’s about action. Every small step matters, every idea counts, and together we can create change. Scroll down to find out more about our workshops and sign up to join the conversation, share your ideas, and help protect our water.

What is the Workshop?

Our BLUEFRONT workshops are open to young people aged 14–30 and are designed as a space where youth can learn, speak up, and take action on water sustainability and the blue economy. These sessions are interactive, youth-led, and focused on real issues that affect our communities and our future.

The workshops may include short information sessions, group discussions, hands-on activities, community projects, and even site visits. The aim is not only to share knowledge, but to turn it into something practical; ideas, solutions, and action that can make a difference.

These workshops also form part of a wider BLUEFRONT journey across Europe. While we work on local realities in Malta, we are connected to young people in other partner countries who are doing the same; sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and building a stronger movement for water justice together.
